When Teddy Pendergrass (rest his soul) sang those famous words, I doubt he was thinking of conserving energy or reducing his electric bill. He was trying to create a mood of romance and what better way to do so than with candles…
Candles are the easiest way to create romance or to set the mood. The food and the music can be perfect, but if bright lights are on, the feeling becomes less magical and romantic
Candles add such a romantic and calming touch to our lives, whether it’s a dinner for two, a bath, massage, anything, it just gives us this feeling of peace, relaxation, love. So adding candles to your event décor, whether in addition to your flowers, or having them as the main centerpiece, is such a wonderful idea. They are great for weddings (a day surrounded by love and romance) and parties as they add to the elegance and ambience of your event. Candles provide a subdued lighting that does not take away from your event, and is also one of the best ways to provide elegant, flattering illumination.
Here are some great ways to use candles at your next event:
1. Group pillar candles of varying heights to create beautiful candle centerpieces. Clusters of candles can accent other areas, like the guest book table.
2. Light up the walkway, stairs or entry for an outdoor wedding or event. Not only will it look amazing, but it will also be helpful in lighting pathways for safety.
3. Instead of pew bows, line the aisle for the bridal party's entrance with candles
4. Have a romantic, candlelight ceremony with candelabras. Lining the kneeling area of the church with votives, placing them around the sanctuary in window sills, and placing hurricane globes on columns are just a few ways to heighten the effect.
5. Placing votives around the reception hall will add a bit of fairy tale fantasy to the room.
6. Surround your wedding cake with votives. It will look fabulous in a dimly lit room and makes quite a presentation before it is cut.
7. Decorate the guest book table with candles.
8. Light up the buffet table with candles in hurricane globes. Cluster them in the center or spread them throughout.
9. For a very trendy table décor, place tea lights in a wine glass and cover with a vellum shade. This “mini lamp” will make the table setting more intimate.
I hope you enjoy the following pictures as much as I do J
