"Breakfast at Tiffany" Anyone?

I was approached by the lovely Jacqueline Britton last Saturday to help her pull off a "Breakfast at Tiffany's" themed Tea Party for the Women's Ministry at her Church.  This was a last minute thing as the member who was originally responsible for decorating gave it up at last minute. No way I thought, but because I can't walk away from a challenge, I just had to do it. This was my first attempt at this theme and I had one week to get all this done. I was also working with a limited budget, but my philosophy is where there's a will, there's a way.
The idea was to have all the ladies attending mimic Audrey Hepburn by wearing a black dress. They would then be given "pearls" upon arrival. For centerpieces, they wanted to use Tiffany boxes and "something else", only problem was, no one had Tiffany boxes, or even ordered anything remotely similar. I did a little research for inspiration, but most of what I saw was for a bridal shower, engagement party, or for a cocktail party.  I decided to go with my instinct and come up with something I know they would truly love.

I found these lovely jewelry boxes in Manhattan and decided to make some bracelets and necklaces from beads I bought at Michaels craft store. I enlisted the help of my mom and brother to string them as that was such a time consuming project. I also found these cute little faux diamond rings that I decided to use in the boxes also.  See the picture below

As far as the floral arrangements went, I was given the go ahead to do whatever I chose to. I decided to do some  small centerpieces, but I wanted to do something a little different than just the ordinary. When I think of Audrey Hepburn in the movie, I think of style, class, flair, so I wanted the pieces to show all that. I used the 6inch square vases and decided to wrap them with black ribbon. After doing that, they were still too plain for me, so I added a ribbon in the closest  shade to Tiffany blue I could find, along with some small flowers I also found in Michaels to create a wow factor. This was the result...

For flowers I used a mix of white roses and carnation. I wanted the white to "pop" against the black from the vases...
I decided to add some black feathers and some pearl bouquet sprays that I sprayed robin eggs blue to the centerpiece, to tie in all the colors...

and VoilĂ  the finished product....

I was really happy with the finished product, and when added to the "Tiffany" box piece along with some candles, I thought it was fabulous...

The only thing left to do now was to present it to Ms. Britton. I hoped I had captured the mood and theme of her event perfectly. She and her guests loved them.... Here are a few pics from the event, and you can see more on my Facebook page if you follow this link:
